Digital Storytelling

A colleague sent me a video from Youtube that I put in my favorites column. It is called Crayola Doesn't Make A Color For Your Eyes. It caught my attention because of the mix of video, words and music and how combined they tell a story that goes straight to a teacher's heart. Any teacher would see it and relate to how each student has something to offer and how we look into their eyes to their soul. It is playful and the performance by artist, Kristin Andreassen, and the students is delightful. Many people might view it as just a nice video, but it speaks to educators at a different level. It is a digital story of the love teachers have for their students.

  1. What a wonderful video, Deb! My uncle told me a story this summer about my grandma. People used to always ask her how she got such amazing pictures of her grandkids. My grandma told them she always got down on the floor so she could take our photographs at our level. I thought of this while watching the video because the camera angle captured the personalities of the students(and teacher) by doing just that.

  2. Deb the first time I heard your song, I was riding in a car and she was singing on A Prairie Home Companion and it was sung as a love song to one person. Your posting was so fun to see as a love song to children also. Wonderful change in meaning, perspective and the kids were a joy to watch. Thanks, Mary

  3. This is a great video. I can't help but think of how the "crayola color" could have symbolic references to race and how love can transcend race. Perhaps I'm reading into it too much.

    Thanks for sharing.
